Christmas Stockings

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, I'm a bit of a Christmas traditions purist and I like to use stockings rather than Santa Sacks.

from Madeit seller Ebban Australia http://www.madeit.com.au/ebban

I should probably admit my 'Christmas purist' convictions go a little deeper than that...

I believe that the gifts that go into the stockings should be gifts that come from Santa.... ie things that could have been made by elves in a workshop.

Part of my reasoning is that kids probably don't value their $300 mega gaming console if they think it dropped in from the sky for free and all their lousy parents got them was some new PJs and books.

But my main reasoning is about keeping the magic of Christmas. Santa's elves don't make iPods and kids know that.

So in our house, stocking stuffers are small, sweet 'handmade' items.

Lipglosses in unmarked pots, christmas chocolates, wooden toys, soft toys, crayons, pencils, glues, notebooks, hair clips and elastics, bracelets and necklaces with chunky beads, balls, musical instruments,

I've had a lot of fun playing 'Santa' this year and choosing appropriate toys

Ashley is getting one of these cute magnifying glasses from Lime Tree Kids

Bella specifically asked Santa (repeatedly) for a messenger-bag style insulated lunchbag with a long strap, like Diego,Timmy (the animated sheep) and Daddy have. They are nearly impossible to find. I really anted this one  from Thermos
But it's not available in Australia and Thermos won't ship internationally. Grr Luckily I found this one from, again, Lime Tree Kids:
They are also getting a necklace each, hairclips, santa choccies from Ernest Hillier, Bella is getting a small toy dog and Ashley has a sweet little hairbrush.

I've found some wonderful sites with 'elf-made' toys that you might like too:
And of course, there's always:

What is Santa bringing to your house this year?
